Fall

I float in a sea of multitude colours
undulating with the wind's gentlest breath.
Shades of reds and yellows:
the captured hues of a thousand sunsets
we shared.
I close my eyes when floating in this sea:
to feel the warmth
and silence of your embrace.
The voice of this sea
is not of intemperate waves crashing
against age old cliffs and rocks,
but the muted sound of footsteps
as you come to kiss me good night.
I taste the sweet breath of this sea:
wind blowing over melting ice;
the aroma of dying flowers.
And once more, I glide:
my nose;
mouth;
cheek;
over the sweet tang of your skin.
I am at peace with this sea,
with the fallen leaves of autumn
carrying my longing
into your arms
where I feel safe.
